The Keys to Clear Skin

My skin and I have had quite the battle with one another. I have acne prone,

Blemish prone…

Blackhead prone…

You get the picture. My skin loves a bumpy moment, and I cannot stand it. Here are the steps I took to clear it up, and facetune my real face.

Don’t Touch!

If you are having a bad breakout, popping pimples improperly can hurt the problem you are trying to solve. I won’t bore you with the science on this one but take my word for it!

Hormonal Acne (see a doctor to see if Birth Control can help)

For starters, if you have a pimple that is under the skin and painful that is a cystic pimple. Do NOT touch or pop it, that will leave you with a scar. Cystic Acne should go away with regular cleaning and the right routine in time.

If you have cystic acne popping up regularly, you might be having hormonal acne. When I had this issue, I saw a doctor and she put me on the pill and it was life changing. Talk to your doctor about birth control because it typically has a positive effect on skin

The Right Products

I have spent hundreds of dollars on all of the most popular skin care products out there, and I have finally found the products and routine that works for my skin.

I have combination, acne prone skin. I have found that the best line of skincare products for my skin is shea moisture. African Black Soap is my holy grail. These are the products I use, but maybe A skincare routine will come later.

Eating Right and Staying Hydrated

I have found that dairy makes me break out, everything in moderation, but a healthy diet will do wonders for your skin as well as increasing your water intake.

Patience

Do not expect 12 hour spot treatments to clear your skin in the long run, the long term solutions will keep your skin clear for a longer amount of time. Do not overdo it with harsh scrubs and drying products or even masks.

Never Sleep in Makeup

To remove makeup I use the Neutrogena Makeup wipes before washing my face, this ensures your pores will not be clogged overnight with excess makeup. I also only wear makeup on the weekends because overdoing it with makeup breaks me out.

Try a Cleansing Brush

These things are SO worth the money. They get into your pores in ways that your hands, just can’t. I recommend using it every other day because overdoing it an cause breakouts, and change the brush once a month.
